Private Line Transport circuits are also known as Point-to-Point Private Lines, Tie-Lines, or lines that directly connect two customer points together. Local Private Line Transport circuits connect two locations that are typically in the same city or region. Long-Haul Private Line Transport circuits connect two locations that are in different cities or regions. Many customers use Private Lines for connecting data networks in two or more locations, as described in our Private Lines area of the Data Services (WAN) section of this Web site. Private Lines are also an effective service to enhance voice networks. For example, they can be used to connect two or more phone systems together to enable sharing of features and voice mail. Whether a company has two locations across town from each other, or across the country, Private Lines can be used to connect their phone equipment in such a way, the systems behave as if they were in one building. Some of the benefits of Private Line Transport include the ability to:
BMG Communications leverages the resources of dozens of carriers, including carriers that specialize in Local & Long-Haul Private Line Transport services. Our multi-vendor format ensures you will obtain aggressive pricing and exceptional service. Thinking about provisioning a circuit between your systems, but discouraged by other carriers' pricing? Don't let that stop you. If you deal with your telecommunications carriers directly, they are not likely to tell you their weaknesses. By the time you try a few carriers and get high prices from each one, it's easy to become discouraged and think it's not going to be economical to move forward. Similarly, some of the so-called "One-Stop-Shops" and "Consultants" don't really offer much in the way of carrier diversity, so if the few carriers they deal with can't do it very well, you can imagine they are not likely to tell you of their weaknesses either. We have access to the best rates in the industry, and have seen our carriers quote circuits that are as much as 30% to 50% less than other providers. Learn more about the difference between Local circuits and Long-Haul circuits, as well as the various types of service providers, by reading the below outline. Private Line Local & Long-Haul Transport Services - Details Explained: Local & Long-Haul Transport circuits are Point-to-Point Private Lines provisioned either within a local area, known as a LATA, or between one LATA and another. LATA means Local Access Transport Area; a term developed to describe a geographic region where telephone companies known as Local Exchange Carriers, or LECs, are allowed to operate. Circuits or switched calls that begin and terminate within the same LATA are known as Intra-LATA. Circuits or calls that originate and terminate in different LATAs are known as Inter-LATA. An Inter-LATA call, or a call that crosses the LATA, is commonly referred to as a long distance call. A circuit that crosses the LATA is known as a Long-Haul Circuit. Traditionally, the LECs controlled all the traffic within the LATA. For example, the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) usually controlled large geographic areas covering multiple states that were split into multiple LATAs, and Independent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs) controlled smaller regions. Whereas, Long Distance Carriers, also known as Inter-Exchange Carriers, or IXCs, controlled traffic that was This resulted in limited competition. However, as Long Distance Carriers began to further the competition in their segment, small carriers began to build networks within the LATAs of larger metro areas to compete with the RBOCs for Local Transport Private Lines. Upon implementation of the Telecom Act of 1996, which opened the doors for Local Competition, some of those smaller carriers that had built local networks in metro areas became Competitive Local Exchange Carriers, or CLECs that began to offer other more common local phone services, and were able to expand their networks into other cities. More recently, many of the RBOCs have had restrictions lifted on their ability to sell long distance oriented services, so they are now able to go beyond selling Intra-LATA circuits, and are now able to actually provision Long-Haul Inter-LATA Transport services. This all leads up to the understanding that the customer now has a choice for Local & Long-Haul Transport services. At the same time, the average customer may not know who the best provider is to assist them in integrating their voice networks with Local & Long-Haul Transport circuits. Even if they take time to meet with their Incumbent Bell or Independent LEC, as well as a few CLECs competing for Local Transport, or a few Long Distance Carriers competing for Long-Haul Circuits, it may not be clear who the Let BMG Communications assist you in your evaluation.
